This outer bushing, part number 251 407 179, is used to connect the radius rod to the chassis on every Vanagon. It is used in conjunction with the inner bushing. Since using up the last of the VW bushings, we have found that all available aftermarket options (even this German one) seem to have a higher-than-normal rate of premature failure. It fits 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 and, 1991 and 1992 models.
