This relay kit, part number BLP937501B, diverts the power from the headlight circuit on the Vanagon. When power from the fuse box is routed through the relays directly to the headlights, it bypasses the headlight and high beam dimmer switches. Headlight relays are a must if upgrading to higher output headlight bulbs, as the extra load can damage the headlight and high beam dimmer switches. This shorter path reduces the electrical resistance allowing more volts to get to the headlights. The relay bases supplied with this kit are the VW-type that clip to the fuse box. Comes with detailed instructions, but is simply crimping connectors on wires and plugging things together. It fits 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992 models.
